The Wofford Terriers and Head Coach Jay McAuley come into today’s match up (6-4) after an easy road win 112-66, against the Non-divisional matchup with the North Greenville Crusaders. While Roy Willams and the #17 Tarheels (6-3) come back from a tough loss against conference rival Virginia, 56-47. UNC Freshman star Cole Anthony was ruled out indefinitely due to a knee injury, further detaails are pending.

First Half

This game would be a struggle between two great defensive outings from both teams. With both teams struggling to convert on offense and with many lead changes throughout it would be a tough battle for the whole game. UNC was able to end the half in the lead, 36-32 thanks to the amount of fouls that the Terriers were committing.

Sophomore Murphy Storm hit five threes throughout netting him 15 points for the half, while Senior Trevor Stumpe knocked on an extra 7 points to help close the lead against the Tarheels.

While UNC Tarheel Junior Garrison Brooks was able to score 9 points before the end of the half with KJ Smith and Bacot added 7 and 8 points respectively.

Second Half

The second half would be just as brutal as the first half. Both teams worked well on defense with not many buckets falling for both teams. But despite being out rebounded 34-51, the Terriers would prevail and pull an upset as they defeated the UNC Tarheels 64-68.

UNC would do their best to win the game with Junior Garrison Brooks having a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Brandon Robinson would add 15 points. While the Terriers team would have an assortment of key players with Senior Trevor Stumpe ending the night with 19 points hitting 6-10 from the field with 4-6 of his three falling. Though Freshman Messiah Jones will be the CSN player of the game thanks to his 13 points, 3 blocks, and 3 steals contribution in key moments.

One of the key elements to Wofford’s upset was their ability to convert points off of turnovers. They outscored UNC 4-20 in that respect. Also, Wofford’s bench would be key in securing the victory as they were able to pitch in 24 points.

The Wofford Terriers would improve to (7-4) and continue their win streak as they continue their road tour to face Duke 12/19. While the #17 UNC Tarheels would fall to (6-4) and could not snap their losing streak. They will play at Gonzaga on 12/18.
