Brevard High School is excited to announce the hiring of Annie Burgess as the head women’s basketball coach to replace Chad Owenby, who retired after the 2019-20 season.

Coach Burgess is a passionate educator, coach, and former volleyball/basketball player at Southern Wesleyan University.  As a player in high School Mrs. Burgess was a finalist for Miss Basketball in SC.  She scored over 1,000 points in HS, was an All-State selection, and was a standout in tennis, volleyball and track and field at West Oak HS.

“Ms. Burgess brings high character, passion, excitement and a wealth of knowledge of the game to our program.  She is highly motivated and looks to build excellent rapport with the players and BHS community.  We feel she will be able to continue the success Coach Owenby left.” BHS Athletic Director, Mick Galloway

Coach Burgess stated, “I am thrilled for the opportunity to coach, mentor, and share my love for the game of basketball with our Lady Devils.  Brevard is a special community with dedicated parents, passionate fans, supportive administration, and hard-working student-athletes.  I intend to give my best effort in all areas this opportunity provides and would be grateful for the community’s support.  Lady Devils, Let’s get to work! Go Big Blue!

Coach Burgess is married to husband Jody and they have 4 children.
