Catamounts and Camels to meet in back-to-back seasons, 2024 & 2025

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina and in-state foe, Campbell, have agreed to a two-game football home-and-home series contract for the 2024 and 2025 seasons it was officially announced by both schools this week.

The Catamounts are slated to host Campbell in the first-ever meeting in NCAA competition on Sat., Sept. 7 in the second game of the 2024 season. The following year, WCU travels to Buies Creek, N.C., for the first time to face the Camels at Barker-Lane Stadium (5,500) in late September. According to records, the two did meet back in the late 1930s, a pair of wins by Campbell.

WCU’s 2024 meeting with Campbell is the third game already officially announced for that season as the Catamounts open in Raleigh against the NC State Wolfpack on Aug. 31 before heading west to Missoula, Montana to face the Grizzlies on Sept. 14. Montana’s return trip to Cullowhee is slated for Aug. 30, 2025, with WCU going to Campbell the following week.

Campbell restarted its football program after a 58-year hiatus back in 2008. A founding member of the Big South Conference in 1983, the Camels rejoined the league in 2011 and as a football-member in 2018 after playing its first 10 years under the Pioneer Football League banner.

Season tickets for WCU’s 2020 five-game home schedule are on sale now through the Catamount Athletics ticket office by phone at (828) 227-2401 and online at CatamountSports.com. WCU Athletics has extended its special early-bird price structure while also offering payment plans during the pandemic. Fans can choose from adult and youth tickets in reserved stadium chairs, bleacher back, and bench seating, as well as general admission and the Western Builder’s Family Fun Zone seating options.

Returning season ticket holders must renew their seats by June 30, 2020, to lock-in their same seats from last year.

Also, as the Catamount Club continues to work to raise a little over $800K between now and the end of the fiscal year to cover the costs associated with educating our student-athletes through their scholarship in the annual fund, they understand that times are currently challenging. The Catamount Club staff is willing to work with each donor in every way possible to ensure we help accomplish our collective goal of making an impact. The traditional membership renewal campaign begins in early-May, pending the gravity of the circumstances facing our region due to COVID-19, and as of right now, the Catamount Club is still planning on a June 30th deadline for members either completing renewal or creating a specialized fulfillment plan for individual contributions. However, at any point, donors are able to complete their gift by calling the Catamount Club office at (828) 227-3047 or by logging into their donor account by visiting CatamountSports.com/CatamountClub.
