Chattanooga’s Connor Nolan named SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga junior Connor Nolan has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 18-24. The selection is made by the league office.

Nolan shot an even-par 216 to tie for 17th in the 100-man field at the Graeme McDowell Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, turning in rounds of 1-over-par 73 and 1-under 71 on Monday and even-par 72 on Tuesday. The junior from Corona, California, finished ahead of 14 other Southern Conference golfers in the field en route to his second career showing of par or better and his fifth career top-20 finish. Nolan’s 13 birdies over the two-day event were one off his career high.

Nolan helped the Mocs to an eighth-place team finish in the 19-team field, which included seven teams that finished in the top 100 of the Golfstat rankings last spring and three that were in the top 35. SoCon foes Samford and Wofford were also in the field.

The weekly award is the first of Nolan’s career.

Chattanooga is back in action Oct. 7-8 at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational Collegiate at Meadow Club in Fairfax, California.

Also nominated: Connor Reid (Samford) and Walker Simas (Wofford).
